Formerly a 19th Century hunting lodge, Lakshman Sagar opens this Autumn as a 32-acre retreat, located just two and a half hours outside from Jodhpur, sensitively restored by Sewara Hospitality & Development.
The original Zenana and Mardana quarters are used as dining and living spaces, opening onto a lake surrounded by 12 rustic cottages with private plunge pools.
The interior design is refreshingly creative, with quirky custom-made pieces including recycled milk cans used as light fixtures, ‘pagri’ turban cushions and table legs ‘dressed’ in ladies bangles.
A 60 ft long swimming pool has been carved from the natural rock, with panoramic views of the estate.
Personalise your stay, by planning your own seasonal menus, order made-to-measure ‘chappal’ shoes or try your hand at the local village activities – goat and sheep herding.
Open from 1st September – 30th April 2012 prices start from 16,000 INR / £205 per cottage, per night on a full board basis.
